POCAHONTAS' ROMANCE: The video

This past November, my grandson Carson (10) was hired by the Australian band Sun City to appear in a music video for their latest song "High" scheduled for release early next week. The video was filmed in the Canadian Rockies west of Calgary in -20 degree weather.

(At one point during the filming, the crew had to surround the cast (made up of children) because two mountain lions were prowling around the set.)

At any rate, the video is a simple child's fantasy of the English Explorer John Smith (played by Carson) and Pocahontas (played by Anna-May Patenaude). Carson  er, John Smith is romanced Pocahontas who spots him behind a tree. Apparently he was smitten: they hold hands, gaze at the mountains, run through the forest, and Pocahontas paints his face. Such romance! But alas, there's trouble for the lovebirds. Pocahontas' father (played by Shawn Seward) is shot with a toy gun. An elastic band through the heart. Such tragedy!
