The disability ministry of Joni & Friends

I was in California this past week to attend a Board of Reference Forum for the Christian Institute on Disability of Joni & Friends. I am a member of that Board.

Joni Eareckson Tada became quadriplegic as the result of a diving accident in 1967. Throughout the past forty-two years she has used her disability to take a profoundly powerful witness for Jesus Christ to millions of people with disabilities, and their families. Her ministry is called Joni & Friends. Not only do they witnesses directly to people hurt by disabilities; they equip churches for disability outreach ministry to the disabled and provide family retreats. To read more about this extraordinary Christian ministry go to http://www.joniandfriends.org/index.php and tour the website.

Wheels for the World Outreach is an international ministry of Joni & Friends which takes wheelchairs and a critical witness of Christ’s love to disabled people throughout the world including the poorest areas on the planet. They not only need physical mobility but need to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.
JONI AND FRIENDS IN CANADA?
It is my prayerful desire to bring the Joni andFriends ministry to Canada with a field office located in Alberta’s Capital region of Edmonton. There are a number of hurdles to overcome. However, if readers of this blog who live in the Edmonton area are interested in helping with this initiative, contact me at my personal email MPickup@shaw.ca.
For other readers, I strongly urge you to support Joni & Friends or their field offices in various locations across America. I firmly believe Joni & Friends is God-ordained.
