I laid down with a fretful little grandson. He's only two and was overtired. He needed his afternoon nap. I read him a story but he fell asleep before it was over. I looked at his angelic face and held his wee hand. It occurred to me that this was a moment I must treasure because he won't be little for long. Soon he will be too big for naps and story time. He will have his friends and I will only have my memories to cherish.
Little children are little so briefly and old men are old too long.
